Mission Statement

Exposing and Educating the Public to this Style of Music We Call Jazz

The San Antonio Summer Art & Jazz Festival, also known as SAS FEST, is a free, three-day event featuring an outstanding line-up of local, regional, and nationally known jazz artists, with an Arts & Crafts Fair, as well as delicious food and drinks. Developed from a passion for jazz music and through the promotion of great jazz music to all of San Antonio, all of Texas, and the West Coast. SAS FEST is host to 25 underprivileged children from a local San Antonio Children’s Home. During the main evening performances, these children will be honored and will enjoy the concert under an exclusive covered area. In addition, they will be served dinner and dessert and will be given keepsake toys and a complementary miniature 2015 SAS FEST poster in remembrance of their special time with SAS FEST. SAS FEST also presents a humanitarian award every year to an individual who helped advance, improve, and promote the community of San Antonio. These individuals have been directly involved in the community and have devoted a portion of their life to helping improve and make the world a much better place for others.

This year, SAS FEST is host to 25 underprivileged children from St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home. During the main evening performances, these children will be honored and will enjoy the concert under an exclusive covered area. In addition, they will be served dinner and dessert and will be given keepsake toys and a complementary miniature 2015 SAS FEST poster in remembrance of their special time with SAS FEST.

SAS FEST presents a humanitarian award every year to an individual who helped advance, improve, and promote the art and/or music industry and the community of San Antonio. Criteria include the individual’s direct involvement in the community and the devotion of a portion of their life in efforts to improve the world and make it a much better place for others.

The Latin American Heritage Society is an off-shoot/umbrella of SAS FEST. The Latin American Heritage Society works to encourage young men and women stay in and to graduate from high school. The mission of the Latin American Heritage Society is to encourage and to promote the development of music and the fine arts in young women by raising money for scholarships in music and the fine arts so that these young women can attend one of San Antonio’s great colleges or universities.

When you support the San Antonio Art & Jazz Festival, you are contributing to St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home, enhancing the arts, music, and music education, contributing to music literacy, recognizing individuals who strive to improve their community, and promoting jazz music worldwide.

Participation by you makes this great event possible.
